Dr. Journell

Dr. Kitrina Journell was one of the founders of Animal Hospital of Lewisville in 2010 and has loved being a part of the Lewisville community! Dr. Journell grew up in Fairfax County, VA, and went to James Madison University for her undergraduate degree in Biology, Pre-Med. She met her husband, Wayne, while attending JMU, and they both then went to graduate school together in Illinois. Dr. Journell continued her path to becoming a veterinarian at the University of Illinois Champaign - Urbana College of Veterinary Medicine.

She loves working with dogs and cats, and enjoys seeing the occasional exotic pet as well. Her special interests are in internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Journell and her husband enjoy spending as much time as possible with their four children. Their daughter, Hadleigh, is a smart, sweet little girl with lots of energy. They have a sweet mutt named Parker, and two sassy kitty cats, Abe and Madison. The Journell family enjoys traveling, playing and watching sports, and spending time at the beach whenever they can!

Dr. Barbee

Dr. Colleen Barbee is a graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She attended NC State for her undergraduate degree in both Zoology and Poultry Science. Dr. Barbee has participated in multiple mission trips with Christian Veterinary Mission to the Cherokee and Navajo reservations and the Yup’ik tribes in Alaska. Along with seeing dogs and cats, Dr. Barbee enjoys working with backyard poultry (chickens, ducks, etc.) In her spare time, she loves spending time with her energetic standard poodle (Ollivander), reading, baking, and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Allgood

Dr. Joni Allgood is a Yadkin County native. Dr. Allgood came to Animal Hospital of Lewisville in 2020, after 12 years of working in small animal medicine as well as general practice in the Burlington and Lexington areas. She says it is great to be back home!

Dr. Allgood received dual Bachelors degrees at UNC Greensboro and obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. Dr. Allgood has special interests in imaging and internal medicine. She enjoys working with dogs, cats, and furry exotics, including rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. When not working, she enjoys traveling with her family and anything Disney related!

Dr. McClure

Dr. Kathleen McClure grew up in Tampa, FL, and remained in the area to attend the University of South Florida, where she received her bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish & Latino studies (including some study abroad time in Spain!). Dr. McClure then continued her educational journey at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, where she obtained her DVM degree as well as certification in veterinary business management.

Dr. McClure has special interests in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery, and enjoys working with dogs and cats, as well as exotics! She has two cats, Chester and Piper, and a crested gecko named Barry. In her free time, Dr. McClure enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, reading, and playing the piano.

Angie - Client Service Supervisor

Angie has been a part of the AHL team since we opened in 2010. She was born in New York but has lived in the South since childhood. She is a proud Italian who loves cooking, spending time with her pets and going to car show events. Angie is also a heavily involved volunteer for a group that assists with the health and well-being of feral cats in the community.  Angie and her husband reside with their cats and dogs in Lewisville.

Mary

Mary - Client Service Representative / Veterinary Assistant

Mary was born and raised in Lewisville. Her heart belongs to her son and daughter, and sharing love and kindness to all those she meets. Helping people and pets makes her smile. Mary loves learning all she can to better educate herself and others. Her family has helped many orphaned animals over the years. Working with animals is the only thing she has ever wanted to do, other than being a mom.

In her spare time, Mary loves hanging out with her kids, listening to music, beach time, collecting seashells. She also loves cleaning and organizing with her sweet lab, Smoochy.

Mary is very grateful to be a part of the Animal Hospital of Lewisville Team.

Kristina - Veterinary Technician

Kristina was born and raised in Lewisville. She began her career in the veterinary field in 2017 as a veterinary assistant and went on to work at emergency veterinary clinics in Charlotte, NC, Yorktown, VA, and Greensboro, NC before joining The Animal Hospital of Lewisville in 2024. In the same year, she graduated from Central Carolina Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. In January 2025, she earned her technician’s license and became a registered veterinary technician.

In her free time, Kristina enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, reading, crocheting, and catching up on her favorite TV shows. She shares her home with two German Shepherds, Scarlett and Hazel, and two cats, Danny and Myra.

AshtynAndrews

Ashtyn - Veterinary Assistant

Ashtyn is originally from the coast of North Carolina but moved into Iredell and then into Davie while in middle school. She is currently attending Davie County High School with plans to attend Appalachian State University and pursue a Veterinary Medicine degree with hopes of becoming a veterinarian.

She has never been in a home without a furry companion and couldn’t imagine life without them. Her passion for animals started when she was very young, and she would gladly help out with her mother's pet-sitting business. Ashtyn has regularly volunteered with the local humane society, where she helped foster and socialize dogs and cats before getting a job at a veterinary clinic. At AHL, Ashtyn hopes to learn and grow in the veterinary field and create a close bond with clients and patients.

Ashtyn lives with her mother and their three dogs and four cats. In her free time, you can find her with her pets, reading a book, playing video games, or listening to music.

Anna_Lammel

Anna - Veterinary Assistant

Anna was born in Argentina and moved to Florida when she was just a baby. She lived there for eight years before moving to North Carolina with her family in 2009.
Anna is currently studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Wake Forest University and is set to graduate in May 2023.
She hopes to become a veterinarian and is currently volunteering as a puppy raiser for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, raising her 3rd pup with hopes that it will become a guide dog. When not studying or raising puppies, Anna loves to spend time with her five dogs and three cats!

Andrea - Veterinary Assistant

Andrea was raised in Mississippi but relocated to North Carolina in 2020. She is a pre-veterinary student at Salem College. From a young age, Andrea has always been around animals. She began rescuing animals at a young age and continues to volunteer at animal shelters and wildlife rescue organizations.

At home, Andrea has four rabbits named Basil, Indigo, Demon, and Harry, two dogs named Aria and Bentley, and a Cuban false chameleon named Stinky. When not focusing on schoolwork, her favorite activities are sleeping, playing video games, and being a Madison Beer stan.

Macenzi2024

Macenzi - Veterinary Assistant

Macenzi grew up in southern North Carolina and has always dreamed of working with animals. Three years ago, that dream became a reality, and her passion for caring for animals has only grown stronger every day. She hopes to further her career by attending school to become a registered veterinary technician.

In her free time, Macenzi enjoys watching movies with her fiancé and spending time with her diverse group of pets, which includes two dogs, a rabbit, a hedgehog, a leopard gecko, and a flock of chickens.

Stephanie - Veterinary Assistant

Stephanie is originally from Chicago but moved to North Carolina when she was a kid. She has always had an interest and passion for caring for animals that started with growing up with a beautiful German shepherd who would protect her when she was a baby. This turned into a decision to make it a career to care for them in return. Stephanie has been working with dogs for the past 5 years and plans to continue. Her goal is to work her way up to working with and rehabilitating wildlife. When Stephanie is not working with all the lovely dogs and cats that come into the hospital she is at home with her own fur baby named Athena. They watch movies, and she keeps Stephanie company while she also partakes in her favorite hobby of writing short stories!

Alexis - Veterinary Assistant

Alexis was born in upstate New York and moved to North Carolina 13 years ago. She previously worked at an ER practice in Greensboro and recently transitioned to general practice. Alexis has always had a love for animals, and in 2024 she graduated from Alamance Community College with an Associate’s degree in Animal Management and Technology.

Outside of work, Alexis enjoys spending time with her fiancé, son, and daughter. She shares her home with a labradoodle named Remi, a kitty named Muffin, and five fish.

Deanna - Veterinary Assistant

Deanna was born and raised in Winston-Salem and began working in the veterinary field in 2021, right after graduating high school. She’s had a passion for animals from a very young age and always knew she wanted to make a career out of it. When an opportunity to work in veterinary medicine came her way in December 2021, she eagerly accepted and hasn’t looked back since.

Deanna loves being a voice for our pets who can’t communicate for themselves. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Drew, and their two dogs: Remington, an 8-year-old Alaskan Malamute, and Simba, a 9-month-old Cane Corso. She also enjoys shopping and esthetics.

Lily - Veterinary Assistant

Lily grew up in Lewisville before moving away to attend Penn State University, where she graduated in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. While at Penn State, she was a member of the Penn State Equestrian Team and showed heifers in the Penn State Dairy Expo.

Lily also became involved with Susquehanna Service Dogs, helping to train several puppies and raising SSD Luna, who is now in advanced training and currently waiting to be placed.

Kaeli - Veterinary Assistant

Kaeli was born and raised in Lewisville and is currently a junior at Reagan High School. Growing up surrounded by animals and siblings, she developed a strong sense of responsibility and care from an early age. As the second-oldest of five, she spends much

of her time helping with her younger siblings, especially babysitting her little brother. Kaeli has always been active in her school community. She is involved in Reagan’s theatre department and previously played softball for seven years, which taught her

teamwork, dedication, and patience.

At home, Kaeli cares for her two dogs, Cricket and Tilley, who keep her busy and always entertained. Outside of school and work, she enjoys relaxing with her family, spending time with her dogs, and being involved in anything creative or performance-related.

Jennie - Veterinary Assistant

Born in Lewisville, Jennie traded her shears for vaccines and now wrangles furry friends while teaching her two little cowboys and cowgirl, that every stray deserves a loving home (and maybe a belly rub!).

Her family knows better than to raise an eyebrow when she rescues yet another furball. They’ve learned when it comes to her animal antics, surprise is a lost cause. Jennie, and her outlaws now too, all think every animal is a potential playmate-even the trash panda who resides outside!
