Dr. Journell

Dr. Kitrina Journell was one of the founders of Animal Hospital of Lewisville in 2010 and has loved being a part of the Lewisville community! Dr. Journell grew up in Fairfax County, VA, and went to James Madison University for her undergraduate degree in Biology, Pre-Med. She met her husband, Wayne, while attending JMU and they both then went to graduate school together in Illinois. Dr. Journell continued her path to becoming a veterinarian at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana College of Veterinary Medicine. She loves working with dogs and cats, and enjoys seeing the occasional exotic pet as well. Her special interests are in internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Journell and her husband enjoy spending as much time as possible with their four children. Their daughter, Hadleigh, is a smart, sweet little girl with lots of energy. They have a sweet mutt named Parker, and two sassy kitty cats, Abe and Madison. The Journell family enjoys traveling, playing and watching sports, and spending time at the beach whenever they can!


Dr. Crozier

Dr. Colleen Crozier is a graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She attended NC State for her undergraduate degree in both Zoology and Poultry Science. Dr. Crozier has participated in multiple mission trips with Christian Veterinary Mission to the Cherokee and Navajo reservations and the Yup’ik tribes in Alaska. Along with seeing dogs and cats, Dr. Crozier enjoys working with backyard poultry (chickens, ducks, etc). In her spare time, she loves spending time with her energetic standard poodle (Ollivander), reading, baking, and spending time outdoors.


Dr. Allgood

Dr. Joni Allgood is a Yadkin County native. Dr. Allgood came to Animal Hospital of Lewisville in 2020, after 12 years of working in small animal medicine as well as general practice in the Burlington and Lexington areas. She says it is great to be back home!

Dr. Allgood received dual Bachelors degrees at UNC Greensboro and obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. Dr. Allgood has special interests in imaging and internal medicine. She enjoys working with dogs, cats, and the furry exotics including rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. When not working, she enjoys traveling with her family and anything Disney related!

Our Support Team


Leigh - Practice Manager

Leigh had always wanted to be a veterinarian but life kinda got in the way. She truly believes that God put her exactly where she is meant to be. The animals are her heart!

She grew up in Davidson County and went straight into the veterinary field upon graduating from North Davidson High School. She has certifications in dentistry, ultrasound, and OSHA requirements.

During her time off, you can find her doing projects around the house or working in the yard with her wife, Kate. She loves yard work and being outside and family dinner / game night every Saturday along with her two sons. In the evenings, you can find her snuggled up on the sofa with her pit bull, Mo, and Chester the chiweenie.


Angie - Client Service Supervisor

Angie has been a part of the AHL team since we opened in 2010. She was born in New York but has lived in the south since childhood. She is a proud Italian who loves cooking, spending time with her pets and going to car show events. Angie is also a heavily involved volunteer for a group that assists with the health and well being of feral cats in the community.  Angie and her husband reside with their cats and dogs in Lewisville.


Brittney - Client Service Representative

Brittney grew up in the small town of Pilot Mountain but has called many cities across the country home. She has two fur babies, Dewbie and Luke whom she spoils whenever she gets the chance. Working for a nonprofit pit bull rescue in the past she looks forward to the opportunity to volunteer more. Brittney enjoys photography, loves a good mystery book and classic horror movies.


Mikayla - Veterinary Assistant / Client Service Representative

Mikayla grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, and graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College in 2020. As a young child, like many in our hospital, she dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian. Her surrounding loved ones agreed that this is Mikayla's destiny, and encouraged her to pursue this career.

Mikayla loves to frequent her local church with friends and families. During her free time, you will find her singing, baking, reading, or engaging in any crafty activity.

Of course, her love of animals does not stop at work. She adores spending time with her fur babies, Rainbow and Zeke, as well as with her bearded dragon, Clementine.


Patsy - Veterinary Assistant

Patsy was born in Winston Salem and raised in Yadkin county and graduated from Forbush High School in 2014. While attending high school, Patsy would volunteer at the Yadkin County Animal Shelter in the summer.

Patsy got her first veterinary internship her senior year. After high school, she went on to Surry Community College to study animal sciences. Her first veterinary jobs soon followed while also doing at home pet sitting. Patsy's dream job as a child has always been working with animals and anything in the fashion industry.


Michelle - Veterinary Assistant

Michelle transplanted from Maryland and brings more than 15 years experience to our team. She has two dogs of her own and enjoys spending time outside with them, her husband, and two daughters, Mia and Rylee.

On the weekends you can find Michelle racing on the autocross course or swimming with her family.


Mary - Client Service Representative / Veterinary Assistant

Mary was born and raised in Lewisville. Her heart belongs to her son and daughter, and sharing love and kindness to all those she meets. Helping people and pets makes her smile. Mary loves learning all she can to better educate herself and others. Her family has helped many orphaned animals over the years. Working with animals is the only thing she has ever wanted to do, other than being a mom.

In her spare time, Mary loves hanging out with her kids, listening to music, beach time, collecting seashells. She also loves cleaning and organizing with her sweet lab, Smoochy.

Mary is very grateful to be a part of the Animal Hospital of Lewisville Team.


Dustin - Veterinary Assistant

Dustin was born in Davidson County and raised in Clemmons, and graduated from West Forsyth High School in 2013. He then went on to study teaching at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, but soon established himself in the veterinary field and has been pursuing it since 2016.

Dustin has four pets of his own; Figaro, Jilley, Radar, and Winter. In his free time, he enjoys playing and streaming games with his friends. 


Katie - Veterinary Assistant

Katie recently moved to the area with her husband and their dogs, Zelda and Frieda. She was raised in Virginia, but is excited to call NC home! One day Katie hopes to open a senior dog sanctuary in honor of her first dog, Sammy, who showed the unconditional love pets can give and that's when she realized she wanted to help animals.

In her free time, Katie loves to spend time with family, play video games, and work on her Cutlass Supreme.

Emily - Veterinary Assistant

Emily was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. She graduated from Reagan High School in 2021 and is now attending NC State University with a major in Animal Science, hoping one day to apply to vet school.

Emily has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember, rescuing various creatures from off the street whenever they needed help. In her spare time, Emily loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her dog Watson. She loves music, video games, and to whip up a new recipe in the kitchen.


Racheal - Veterinary Assistant

Raised in Davidson County, Racheal graduated from Ledford Senior High School in 2015. She shortly after began pursuing her veterinary career by enrolling in an online veterinary assistant course.

Currently enrolled in Penn Fosters' Registered Technician Program, Racheal is excited to continue developing her veterinary career! Building relationships in and out of the workplace is her strength; it is inevitable as she deeply cares for her patients, their owners, and her teammates.

Racheal loves her son David, her fur babies Dottie and Buster, and her ferrets, Zibby and Penny. When not at work, she can be found outdoors with them taking walks and visiting parks.


Heather - Veterinary Assistant

Heather grew up in a small town, enjoying farm life from a young age, where she daydreamed of becoming a nurse or veterinarian. Her experience in veterinary medicine began in High School, but she also holds experience in the human healthcare world. She inevitably realized that her calling was still in animal medicine.

She is professionally known for her exceptional client communication skills, and her talentedly still hand while performing blood draws.

When not at the clinic, Heather can be found farming, barrel racing, and hanging with family and friends.


Erica- Veterinary Assistant

Erica joined us at AHL as a veterinary assistant in October, 2022. Prior to this, she was born and raised out west in Washington, where she obtained her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. For 6 years, Erica worked in general practice, ER and critical care, and referral center. Her career led her to Savannah, Georgia, where she got to work at an ophthalmology specialty practice. Later, she and her family would move out here to Lewisville, North Carolina to join the AHL family. She is known by her peers as compassionate and hard-working.

When she’s not at the hospital, Erica outside, running around with her 2 dogs and four kids. On her own, she enjoys knitting, sewing, and working on her house.

Courtney Kirkland

Courtney Kirkland - Online Pharmacy Specialist

Courtney oversees the online pharmacy program for our veterinary practice, ensuring clients receive savings, convenience, and peace-of-mind when purchasing medications and products for their pet's optimal health and wellbeing.

Courtney grew up in Brackettville, Texas. She has 7 years of experience in the veterinary industry working as a vet and kennel technician. She is a certified laser technician and safety specialist and at her prior clinic, she was the on-site laser technician.

In her free time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her three children and their chocolate lab, Creek. She also enjoys reading, cooking and fishing. During the spring, she can be found with her husband on the diamond coaching Little League Baseball.
