What are the Most Common Allergy Symptoms?

Both dogs and cats can suffer from allergies. Symptoms you should check for include:

  • Constant scratching, licking, and chewing of the skin
  • Patches of inflamed skin and hair loss
  • Odor coming from your pet's skin or ears
  • Red, swollen ears
  • Runny eyes and nose
  • Sneezing

Early Treatment is Better Treatment

Itchy skin, known as pruritus, is one of the most common symptoms of pet allergies. Scratching and licking damages the skin over time and puts your pet at risk for bacterial and yeast infections, making their condition even harder to treat.

If you notice that your pet is scratching more than normal, contact us so we can give them some relief. Early detection means we can prevent their condition from getting worse and increase their comfort much sooner.

Relief is Possible for Your Pet

Allergy treatment may take time, especially if your pet has developed a secondary skin infection. We’ll need to identify the cause of your pet’s allergies, confirm our diagnosis, then select a treatment that is both safe and effective for your pet.

Know that we’re always here to answer your questions and offer support to help you and your pet through the treatment process. Just call (336) 946-3441 to speak with one of our team members.
